Well i went back today and didnt get 20 ft from the truck and dug my first bullet! The luck kept coming! I ended up with 11 bullets (1 weird bullet i need an id on ), 9 general service buttons, some kind of hook, and a heavy duty buckle of some sort (horse tack?). My best cw day yet! Thanks for looking.

That's a great hunt!! The hook is a gun sling adjuster, and the bullet is a carved gaming piece. Nice hunt indeed!!

Thanks relic nut! I thought the same thing at first about the bullet, but it still has a piece of brass from what i assume to be the casing still attached? And it wont stand up. Kind of weird. Lol

If it's carved, you should be able to see knife marks if you look close. Here's an example of the adjuster. Looks like you are on good ground.rifle sling2.JPG

Hello from Spotsy.. Man you burnt it up on that one. Looks like you got you one heck of a good place to look there. wtg..HH

Wow, thats definitely the hook! How cool is that... check out this one button. I found it in the creek and it still has some guild on it and is a dark red patina! I have not cleaned anything as you can see but 2 or 3 of the buttons are different than the others. Still general service buttons but different eagle and sheild!

Nice finds. Civil war stuff is hard to come by In Spotsylvania now. I'm sure you and digiron2 know what I'm talking about, I find it harder to get new permissions now and the old sites are drying up. That little brass piece is a cartridge box finial and maybe the the box plate nearby . Good luck

Thanks 76 for the id! I know what you mean. 1 yes to 10 no's. The place that i am hunting now is being poached regularly. New holes (unfilled) when i went today. I was just there friday! Im still waiting on my first plate! Maybe someday...

Your weird bullet is the tip to a bayonet scabbard. And the buckle is part of a tourniquet.

Yep I second the scabbard tip idea. I've got one in my shadow box right now identical to that one

No doubt. I haven't had a good civil war hunt in a long time. Might get lucky and catch a random button or Minnie here or there but nothing like it use to be. Permissions seem to be harder to get, and all this new development and roads aren't making things any better either.

Yep yout guys are right about the scabbard tip, sorry for the wrong id

No need to be sorry!! I looked up the cartridge box final and found one identical... thank you for taking the time to try and help!
