Hi All,
Went back to one of my older sites,
spent about 2 hours in blazing sun.
dug another piece of this gilded lead circular trim, (have many other pieces ?)
Then picked my first decent IH, An 1862, listed as 'Scarce'.
I Never cleaned the items,(freshwater rinse & toothbrush) though the sand & surf make it appear so.(not to mention photoshop)
note the difference in the pair of garter snaps, one from 4" sand, one in 8" mud.
Also 4 buttons, one has a nice frontside, others are toast, & a pewter fid,(not a sinker,
note slot in bottom)
Finished off with a 1912 WP in poor condition,
Had a great day! Best to all, Thanks for looking, Herbie.

'another piece of this gilded lead circular trim, (have many other pieces ?)'

They are part of late 18th century shoe buckles.

Nice find on the 1862 IH Herbie :icon_thumright: Wouldn't it be great if all of the gilded lead circular trim pieces that you've found so far made a complete 18th century shoe buckle! :o

Thank you for the Shoe buckle Info,
I have been putting these into my Miscellanous pile, as I had no clue they could be significant, I am confident I have at least 3 other pieces.
just found another in one of my 'inside' boxes, check the 'outside' piles soon.
good day & HH !

I actually don't think those are parts to an 18th century shoe buckle. The curvature doesn't look right. Does the longer one have the pin terminals? :dontknow:
