Went today for a bit.... This 1 caught my eye & may help with where the rocks are coming from.So far this is the only 1 i have found out of hundreds with this type of crust. Thanks for any help
What you are now finding is called "conglomerate", and is a combination of different-sized stones cemented together over time. Almost a coarse form of sandstone, which is the same thing, but with small-sized sand. An even finer-grained sedimentary rock called siltstone holds excellent fossils in British Columbia.
I believe your sample shown is very young, still in the formative stage, and might even be cemented together with remains of river gravel.
Thanks for the help----I'm going to wrap up the green rocks with an ID of A metamorphosed intrusive igneous rock called granodiorite. After hours of looking at rocks!
Did you know a cobble of granodiorite was used by Ellis Hughes to identify the Willamette Meteorite he found in 1902? Granodiorite is not native to Oregon, and perhaps the same cobble was later to help prove the Willamette didn't fall in Oregon, but rather in either Montana, Canada or Idaho.
No i didn't for a new rock hound i found some strange rock indeed. Now look what came off the side of this 1.........Some type of silver or nickel- should olivine have this in it?
I have one like the last one you posted here. I would like any feedback. I have a strong magnet and it jumps and sticks to it. I don't know. I'm am a "Newbie" as well. Thanks!
