I have been dabbling with MDing for a couple of years (the trip to Iraq curtailed it a bit) and I have begun research about treasure here in Oklahoma.

One thing I keep seeing is that there is gold, both nuggets and dust, to be found around the Witchita mountains.

So, any advice? I know to steer clear of the Wildlife Refuge. I have no desire to get nabbed.

Everything I've heard is that it is off limits to prospecting...but Mr. Tom Massie of Gold Fever went in and sluiced some gold out of a stream there somewhere. It was funny, I think the sign he pointed to said no prospecting and he called it "outlaw prospecting". Im sure the park service would know for sure. Also, Altus and granite mountain are where otter creek is would be a possibility.

That is definitely a NO NO. I do not muck around with the WMWR. I did almost get squashed by a buffalo out there once.

Outlaw prospecting, huh? Yeah, the Parks Service would NOT be happy.
