Yes. Pack out the trash. Most MDers have 2 bags. Keepers and junk.

For the most part we take everything we dig and dispose of it properly or recycle it. It's not only environmentally friendly but prevents you from digging the same trash more than once. However there are a few exceptions to the rule, such as if it's heavy or bulky, then if nobody is looking sometimes I'll rebury it, or put it somewhere safe so that it won't get hit by a lawnmower or cut a tire. If it's gold it's way to heavy for you to carry around so you should rebury it.

I'm not asking about MD. I'm asking about magnet fishing.

I have some old areas, that are no longer easily accessed. Bringing out large junk would be difficult.
Or even roadside. Putting three rusty, weed filled lawn chairs, two crusted metal boxes, and a broken lower shaft in my trunk isn't an option.

No difference. Always leave it cleaner than you found the area.
If you can pull it out of the water, you should take it home or find the best, near-by disposal area (by a garbage can).
Don't leave it there for the next guy to deal with.

There are exceptions of course. But at least make one pile of the stuff. Ask the police in those areas. They may give other advise.

Great question! Lots of luck.

I have to agree that if you dig it or pull it out of the water, you take it with you if at all possible. I like the idea that, if you are strong enough to pull it up, you are strong enough to dispose of it properly. If you can't get it in your car, at least pile it in an area where it may be removed more easliy.

Always take it with you. You can dispose of it after you're done detecting. Take it away and you won't have to dig it again sometime. Mine goes in the nearest trash can.

I have found in most cases there has been a trash can near by but I always take bags with me just in case.

For MD and Magnet Fishing the rules are the same...take your trash and leave the place better than you found it. :headbang:

When asking a question don't expect to always like the answer, if you dig/pull it dispose of it properly

I agree with everything said and just think if you ever go back you won’t haul up all that trash a second time. Have fun and enjoy this great hobby.

Sorry ! if your Walking along the Street, pick up a Piece of Trash.
Look at it & Throw it down, Your the Litterbug By Proxy !

If seen By a Cop, You'll be Arrested !

Same thing applies to Treasure Hunting !
No matter What Type of Treasure Hunting :coffee2:

does'nt that seem to be a no brainer ? if you pulled it out and leave it there it can be seen as littering. that old saying out of sight out of mind comes to mind

Just think of it as cleaning out the river anything of value is a bonus..

If everyone left the junk along the bank it would only be a matter of time before signs get posted..

Think about the environment first and your greedy intentions second..:headbang:

Yes, it is.
And yes, I knew it was.
Just hoping I was missing something.
I've watch a few videos, and you never know what you'll pull in.
I don't have the ability to take away anything large, so I guess I wont be tossing.

Yep or you'll be blamed for dumping it
