Hi all,
I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Brian and I am new to MDing. My brother had an old Radio Shack detector when I was little and I remember having a blast with it.
Well, about a year ago a small thunderstorm called Katrina wiped out my parents new home in Waveland, MS. After the storm my father and I went to survey the damage and we came across an amazing find. Hundreds of coins scattered in the sand on my parents property. Nothing old or extremely valuable, just newer clad. In 11 months we have found and dug a little under a thousand dollars using nothing but our eyes at first then dragging out the old Radio Shack detector to look a bit deeper. We have checked with the neighbors and businesses near the home and no one had any sort of coin collection or coin reserves that could have washed down to the beach. Also, they are about a 45 min drive from the casinos so we have ruled that out also.
Anyway, My father and I found out that we were having some great times out there just digging up coins together and enjoying spending time with each other. So we have both bought Ace 250's and have decided to start looking for treasure. I know between Baton Rouge where I am located and Waveland where he is there are tons of Civil War relics to be found. So off we go, I am happy to see we have such a great wealth of knowledge here with this site and I look forward to having a place where I can ask questions and show off our finds.
Happy Hunting and see you in the field,
Brian
