Newbie & the New Land.....

The neighbour to where we keep our horse, has always shown an interest in metal detecting. He recently asked if I could take him. I set him a challege, & said that if he gained permission for the fields we could go out & I would lend him the back-up.

He has gained permission for some land & there was a small area which was normally bird cover which they had recently ploughed. This was a small area which only took us 2 hours to complete. However its enough to start the bug  He found a few buttons, 1834 Farthing, buckle & bits.
(not pictured here)

This field was between 2 small villiages next to a church & river. When its harvested we will be back as I know there are hammered in there somewhere.

So another one joins the hobby & I get more land ;D This is the tip of the iceburg, he knows other farmers & this one will snowball for sure

Sometimes getting land is easy.

Crusader, you get a lot of really old coins but they are usually very green. can they cleanup any better or does it hurt the value.
also what is the value of your average coin and maybe your best if you don't mind.

I had to laugh a bit at this. Most of those green coins, it wouldn't matter what you did, there value over here is nothing. I recycle them or keep them in piles, never waste time cleaning them :)
