I normally for instance grid it from east to west and then later come back and grid it north to south. hunt it all, swing low so you can get max depth and don't try to race through it. I dig everything except iron, I only pull out iron is my pro-pointer detects it in the hole. I normally hunt discriminating out iron and foil when I dirt fish. Good Luck and Happy Hunting

Good luck on your first hunt. My advice would be to just take your time and enjoy yourself. I find metal detecting to be very good exercise, so ease yourself into it at first.

Thank so much folks. I've got all the time I want. The owner is a friend and gave full permission with no strings. He lives in another town. I've got several places here in upstate SC I want to check out but I think this is perfect for practice. Very private. I've read mostly good stuff on this detector and hope I've made the right call. Again, thank you all. I'm glad I found this forum.
