Tried out a new cellar hole site after work today and had some luck. As usual I didn't have near as much time as I'd like but got a few keepers. The best finds of the day were a 1855 pei token, George iii half penny and probably the same era fish hook in the same hole, little complete spoon and my favourite find of the day is a little two piece button with a flower design. I gave it a quick lemon juice dip when I got home and it turned out pretty good. The back says "standard treble gilt". I wish I found some more stuff today but to be out hunting this time of year at all is lucky. Thanks for looking! [emoji2]

Nice rat tail spoon and button. That's a great start and worth some more time investment.

I want to get back bad. There was a village there from 1790's up to 1910. I think 27 houses at its peek. It's about a hour from home. This stuff only came from one single cellar hole spot. Got to explore the rest. Any date range on that pewter Spoon bowl?

You have a very interesting site going; if your age analysis is correct you should have a lot more great finds coming from the area!
The spoon dates early, mid to late 1700s no doubt, but could have been from even earlier. Surprising is the fish hook staying intact, I've found a couple but they just crumble away after exposure to the air

I was surprised to see the hook pop out. It's a little brittle in spots but should hold together. Anything you would do to preserve it? Like a clear coat of something like crazy glue etc.?

I guess crazy glue would keep it intact and preserve it for what it is

Diluted carpenters glue may have similar effect

Actually the weather turned great here. Digging was soft everywhere and no snow. Hope it continues! [emoji2]
