I’ve only found a few flat buttons and never on with any detail on it until this one. I’m really excited and proud of this one.I haven’t cleaned it at all not even water. I’m afraid if I just leave it like this it’s just going to flake apart and the detail will be lost. Should I just put it in a coin capsule and leave it alone? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Nice button congrats it's obviously your find so you make the final call but it looks to me like it would be fine to clean that one with some water

That’s a great looking button! I think I’d be inclined to just rub some Renaissance wax on it. I like the look the way it is. If you over clean it you so t be seeing the great contrast between the high points (detail/design) and the “dirty” background. I tiny bit of wax should accentuate the detail and make it stand out even more.

Yep, grab your soapy water and tooth brush. That one will very easily outlive us all times 10.
