The buttons are choice, but the piece of gold is really the cream of the hunt, congrats. What a way of ending the season's dive with a find like this one. It looks different from what gold nuggets usually look like with smooth edges, this one looks like the gold was hot and exposed to water so it has a splatter effect. I wonder if this was possible if there was a fire and it was in a near molten state when it hit the water?

Hi, I guess its smoother than it looks...I added a few more pictures. If you use the Google machine to search. GOLD NUGGET. you will see some are smooth and some sharp. Also the round holes are common. I wonder if it was in the river naturally of if a sailor dropped it?
