super cool find. looks to me that it says 'In Defense' instead of 'In Defiance'. I believe it's a Canadian (or some province of Canada) Militia buckle. Hope you can find the other piece.

Best of luck finding the other half, as it is a nice piece.

I found the other half of a similar tongue, and wreath buckle a year or two ago, the grass hasn't been mowed since, like you I'd like to get my other half.
