I think if my maiden hunt with a machine gave me any 2 of those, I'd be impressed. Congrats to you. Excellent relics! If I ever decided to get another detector, I believe it will be a Fisher.

Can you show us the backs of the first two pieces? Is that first one a Cufflink?

Hear is the back side, not sure what the first piece is, the back of the button is a bit toasted.

I'm guessing you've got part of a Cufflink which is one of my favorite relics. Very cool

Thanks for the input. Hoping to get back to this spot this weekend, the guy I go detecting with (who's relative owns this property) has found some nice stuff. A lot of confederate stuff and old coins and tokens.

Jacobstd;
There are many more experienced hunters than I , but in all my research, and in my finds, I have not seen an oval colonial era button. But I agree with the others, what I have seen are oval cufflinks. They still can have the small loop in the back and the loop and the way it's attached is a good way to date it. (Jewelry is hard to date accurately).
I have seen colonial buttons reshaped into ovals and squares, (I think when they tried to repair it for continued use), but you can usually tell they were made round first. Either way, very nice finds!

nice finds.If that is what you are reffering too, your button is what collectors refer to as flower buttons.They will usually have flowers or other geometric designs.I am not sure,but if i had to guess I would say that one is probably late 19th century,judging by the iron/tin back.You live in a good place for hunting.gl-HH
