It was a beautiful 60 degree day here in North Texas and I finally got up the nerve to knock on a door to ask for permission to hunt. I have been eyeballing this house eve we since I moved here but have never had the nerve to actually knock on the door. This day was different, this was my first hunt with my CTX 3030 so I needed a special piece of land. Glad I knocked! The man was so kind and actually just seemed happy to have a visitor.

My hunt turned up a pretty interesting variety of finds. Some old coins, tokens, gold heart and a bayonet looking thing.

I could use some help on a couple items. The first is a very flat smooth coin. You can see the bust of a man on the front but the back of the coin is completely worn. Is this just a flattened Jefferson? The second is a triple edge bayonet looking thing. Any help coin/relic guys???

Thanks for looking! Loving the CTX so far!

The bayonet looking thingy is the tip of a lightening rod. The coin with the bust should be identifiable. Post in "What is it?"

Cheers,

Did they use to put punches in tokens when people used them? I have never seen one punched up like this.

It may have been done to be used in another senerio, ie. to field fix a machine of some sort??

Awesome hunt, congratulations. Your "Mo.P." button could possibly be off a Missouri Pacific Railroad uniform. Cool tokens, the punchouts on the token may be a record of store credit owed or paid? Sub 8-)

What a great collection of finds! Not unusual to find a Mexican coin in Texas, of course, but a German deutsche mark? Shows to go ya, anything can be anywhere! Keep up the good work! :icon_thumright:

Thanks! I am very happy with the hunt. I was thinking the same thing about the token. I posted the button in the "what is it" section and it was identified as a police button manufactured in 1885. Super cool!

Nice finds! Maybe whoever worked over that Denson token had way too much time on his hands...
How about posting pics of it on TokenCatalog.com for the good of the hobby?

Very nice! The Bayonett-Thing might be a Boar Spear. Looks very much like one.
