Still combing through my latest spot every few days, scouring the ground for all the low tones. The weeds are getting high, so I am just hammering any spot I can get the small coil near the soil.

Imagine my surprise when a mid tone (17 on the equinox) turns out to be this...

My plug broke at about half the depth I was shooting for. I went in at the side of the pinpointed target with my Lesche and popped the dirt out to the right. Bam. SLQ goes flying across the hole! That wasn't what I thought I was digging. Turned out there were 2 nails in the plug and one more in the hole bringing the signal down.

She had rust stains on the upper left obverse and most of the reverse... but a lemon juice soak took most of that away.
Ended up digging 2 Vs, a buff, a couple wheats, a 1936 dog vaccination tag and an interesting little stamped copper (bronze, brass, whatever) fish. May have been a pin. It's tough. I bent it back into shape without breaking it.

Lastly... you know you've got it bad when you look at your arm in the shower and can see the tanline your detector armcuff is giving you!

Thanks for looking, GL and HH!

Thanks, all. It sure is nice to be part of a community of folks who can appreciate what it takes to go out and dig 42 cents... and be proud of it!
I have had a lot of fun at this place. I am lucky for this to be my second spot in my town where I've now found over 20 silver coins. The first one is only 4 blocks from my house and I never thought I'd top it. I've pulled somewhere over 50 silvers from there in 2 years.
This place is about a mile from home, but has served up 21 silvers already in just over a month (27 counting the ones my buddies have gotten). It may turn out to be better in the long run!!

Wow, way to go on a great dig! That is awesome about the SLQ. I had a couple surprising mid-tones last year. One was a Walker and staple in the same hole. Another was 4 silver quarters and a buff. Just goes to show that you never know!’

Nice SLQ! That's on my bucket list. 2 V's and a buff, nice! Congrats! :icon_thumleft: Pretty cool little fish!
