Many years ago my mother was going to throw this set in the garbage because it was covered in grease, it was given to her by my aunt who kept it above her stove and probably never cleaned it.

I took it and carefully ran hot water over it and used a soft old tooth brush to get the layers of dust and grease off. I've done many searches for Nippon but can't find a comparable set to try and estimate a value. The lower part of the spout on the pot is chipped off but other than that it's in great condition.

Any idea of the value?

Sorry, the reason you can't find a comparable set is because Nippon did not make any to look like that ever.
Now if you showed me a chocolate pot, I say maybe, which is much taller.
