Just found a 32 cal round ball fired at my 1798 plantation house. Was 37cm deep that's 14" deep..am I sure yes I am because my shovel is 12" long and it was down in the hole a couple inches before I dug the last scoop and got the ball from the clay clod.
I used that toe technique to see if the vdi would change..neither it or the sound changed and at 70 vdi I knew had to be lead.
