after enlarging it several times, it almost looks like it has 57 stamped on it

After looking at it does look like a 7 but I was thinking it was the impression left after it was flattened out. Not sure though.

The more information the better, it looks sort of like an old homemade fishing sinker but I don't know why it would have a 57 on it. Maybe you could tell us like what material it is, how big it is or anything else. I have seen people do a pencil rub on some coins or relics like this and that could be helpful. Congrats on the nice find. I would love to find that!

It's just a bit wider than a quarter and thickness of about 4 quarter's. There is definitely some numbers that I believe are 57 (maybe 67) but I really think the numbers are an imprint of when it was being hammered flat. The hole looks looks like a nail has been driven through it with no drill marks..could be degradation though.
