I am going to a friends cabin near Cotton MN north of Cloquet. Should I bring the detector with any chance I could just happen upon a camp? What should I look for around the river and lakes?

I take a metal detector when ever I travel. Always an interesting looking site somewhere. You never know what you might find. Better to have it with you than wish you had brought it along.

I see this is an old post, but, I live by Cloquet, Mn and hunt in Cotton, Mn and hope this may help in the future...

Yes...The Cotton area has a hundred miles of old logging roads. I am sure there are logging camps and old foundations out
there that have not been checked with a detector. Most people up here pick & dig for bottles if they see a dump. That's it.
I have never ever see any one with a detector.
