This story goes back a couple of years ago..I was detecting a couple years ago on the backside of the 40 acre farm i live on.
I was down by the water and i dug a large approx 12 inch metal tube about 3 inches round that looks like it could have been an explosive device one end had a what look to be a wick hole..

So i just mention it to my neighbor who is a big drinker...A couple days later i get a knock on the front door...If you know me you never go to my front door:thumbsup:
There stands a Cop???

I open the door and he says are you John??:-\

I say yes.He said do you know why i am here?I say No:icon_pale:
He says Rick said you found a suspicious looking device..Can you show it to me?

I said sure i hopped in the front seat, first time ever in the front:D

And we take the cruiser 4 wheelin to the place..

I then walk back home..After a couple days they called and said it was a WWII plane flare of some kind..

Cased closed...but

I got a new truck and they messed up on my plates,,So i asked a cop friend who stops out front and hangs out with me to run my plates and stuff..

He goes what the heck is this bomb squad investigation all about:BangHead:

i put 2 and 2 together now its attached to my name in the computer world..

I have not flown since this and i can see a problem already..

What happened to our Country many real hero's have died for???????

I wouldn't sweat it too much. You did no wrong. That's all you have to remember if you ever were quizzed about it- and I very much doubt even that you will be! Take the high ground if you are!

They can check it out if they want to, and find out it's nothing. The way things are now I just "assume" that everything I do is public knowledge, unless I'm in the middle of no where by myself, not talking to anyone. Even then I'm not 100% sure someone doesn't know where I am and what I'm doing. Sign of the times.

And as long as people are willing to accept it it will continue to worsen.

Welcome to the police state where you are guilty until proven innocent.

If you happen to take along your cell phone or GPS,they know where you are.

My friend's crazy wife (I mentioned her in other threads about being a busy-body and always giving people trouble on property that she doesn't even own) once found "a bomb" by the road and wanted to get the FBI, bomb squad, and everyone in the world down there. Me and my friend drove there to check it out, only to find the rusty hacked up remains of an old refrigerator compressor. We both got a good laugh out of it. Not sure if his wife ever called the police like she said she was.

Some people just have an itchy trigger finger over the 9-1-1 buttons on their phone.

Every time the cops are called, they log it in a PC. I was once questioned by a CO for detecting too close to state property. I'm sure that is listed on my record somewhere and if I ever break that law, they will come down hard on me as I have "been warned".''

You can get them removed for your record. Just takes a lawyer, $$$$, and lots of paperwork.

That is why it is always best to politely refuse to show ID to an officer if you are not being accused of a crime and have done nothing wrong. In most state you are not required to show identification unless the officer has a legal basis to ask you.
If you do provide identification and it is radioed into dispatch, it will then be entered into a log and possibly a report. Even though you have done nothing wrong just the fact that your name has been linked to an "incident" whether you were involved or not, may come back to haunt you later when you apply for a concealed Carry or pistol permit, Government job, Job with security clearance, no fly list etc.
In this day of information you really want to try to keep all your info as private as possible.

I voted today against Fast Terry McAulife, running for Virginia governor and socialist agendas.

And I showed identity and told the gal it was my voter ID. She giggled :)

She even told me which ones were incumbents :)

Only one way to reverse this erosion into privacy and our other freedoms, and that is vote these guys out that support the patriot act. That means just about everybody on capital hill right now. But if that's what it takes then so be it.

The US is fast becoming a socialist country. Very sad to see it fall so quick.... Being in the military I have seen in the last 5 years political correctness start putting a strangle hold on the on everything. Traditions are now hazing , every one gets offended about everything and more and more leaders are just yes men.. God we need help before it is to late.....

Agreed. Vote for candidates that believe in our freedoms and have a history of supporting them. That is the only way we have a shot at getting our country back.
