Had a chance to get out earlier in the week. Found a little flint and this broken stone. My best guess is that it's a nutting stone. I've included views from both sides. Any thoughts?
It appears that it might have impact pecking around the crater. It is definitely a double sided nutting stone. Only a nutting stone would be cratered on both sides in almost the same positions......................nice find....................GTP..
Looks like you are at it again friend. The nut stone looks more worked on one side than the other. It is usually pretty obvious. I think it was becoming a nut stone or platform. They used those rocks in their laps for many task. They had a grip : )
Good seein ya !

Hey Tennessee, good hearing from you. Before now, I'd only seen pictures of nutting stones. Was happy to actually stumble across one. I'd have a bucketful of pieced if it would only rain. Come see us sometime,
Doc
Nice finds doc, love those fine materials you find. Do you come across many discoidals out your way? I am thinking it could possibly be an unfinished one where they were just starting the indentation. Just a wild guess.
