This is some of the good stuff I picked up over the weekend. The obsidiam point is broken but we don't find many worked pieces of this material here. It's my first. The bigger bone piece is a flaker and the "awl" looking piece is a marrow scoop (I think) and the other point is chert. Steve says that the KRF bblade looks like it has a ground edge - we find mostly blades that are just flaked.

that blade has ground edges but it is still made by flaking like any knife, but then ground on piece of hardstone
i am thinking about those two bone pieces
the heavy one appears to be a pressure flaking tool
that thin turkey bone piece is either a delicate needle or a marrow scoop
in the 4th image the black piece has a smooth area on the stem that in some ways resemble glass....i am anxious to see it again
either way it is cool....i could be wrong on the bone pieces....just my .02 and maybe only worth.01

Thanks Steve. Digger say's the turkey bone piece isn't a scoop because the tip hab been rounded to a point. He say's it's an awl and if so this is the 26th. Although the very tip is broken on it, there is a difference from the scoop I picked up earlier this summer.

Have I not commented on this post already??? Oh wait that was a couple days ago. Nice blade they would look spectacular in just a frame of those. So that is a lot of awls. Goes to show how important they were is my guess? Nice finds as always.

Thanks. I do have a number of blades like this made of a variety of material and I will get them in a frame together, soon. It's alwmost unbelievable the number of awls I've picked up since last summer. I'll awlso get the recently found ones added to the awl frame and post.

That black obsidian piece is a natural form of volcanic glass. It will not bond with other minerals or get a patina with age if I'm remembering right. Their was a thread on here a week or so back on obsidian. TN. Mountains if I recall had lots of info on obsidian. I could be mistaken, but I think nice obsidian is considered gem grade!! It is still used today in the medical field as well. Sweet find. You knew it was sweet though, all of your finds seem to be. Good going brother!
