ocracoke island metal detecting

i realize that this is in the national seashore area, but my question is can you detect any where at all on the island, besides the beach like on the sound side or wherever, thanks to anyone who can clearify thanks

According to the map not all of the island is National Seashore. Just the area in green. The beaches are all in green. I would not risk it, go to Howard's Pub instead.
