October's only noteworthy find (I could've left the detector at home!)
Found this on the brow of a low hill when hunting a 19th century house site early last month. The bulldozers were clearing the trees and left the dirt exposed, so I picked this up and several much later (1800s) pottery sherds. Otherwise not much, except an old grubbing hoe and some odds-n'-ends. My detecting last month was pretty lackluster, but this eyeball find made up for that, I think. Anybody have any ideas on type and approximate date range for this point? I believe the material is chert. Anytime I see stone I pick it up, since we do not have rocks in our sandy coastal soil around here.
