The year sure went by fast ~ it was a stellar year from treasure hunting! Lots of good stuff to be proud of! Tons of clad, dozens of wheats cents, several modern foreign coins that I didn't keep count. My goal was to find a Barber Quarter this year ~ no success, but I found other treasure even bigger than a Barber quarter! Here's my highlight finds of 2007:

1868 $10 Gold Coin
1910-S $10 Gold Coin
1868-S Seated Liberty Half Dime
1901-S Barber Half
1912-S Barber Half
1919-D Standing Liberty 25c
ND Standing Lib 25c
1908-S Barber Dime
1909-S Wheat Cent
9 Indian Head Cents 1881 to 1908
31 Silver Roosy Dimes 1946 to 1964
17 Mercury Dimes 1918 to 1945
8 Silver Washington 25c's 1941 to 1964
6 Buffalo Nickels 1913 to 1936
4 "V" nickels 1902 to 1911
17 War nickels 1942 to 1945
21 Pre-1960 Jefferson nickels 1940 to 1958
21 Play coins, trade tokens, and Tax Tokens
1936 Silver Australian three Pence
1965 10K gold Class Ring
1953 10K gold Class Ring
14K Gold Man's Watch
1917 Elks Watch Fob

I found a few gold rings 10K, 14K, and even one 18K! Several pieces of Silver Jewelry, old toys, old pocket knives, etc. etc.

2007 was an awesome year for treasures! WOOHOO!!!

Yeah, I think I've inspired my fellow detectorists in our local metal detecting club at first . . . but then a few more good finds just turned a few members sour toward me I think!

Last month at our club meeting I put my 1919-D Standing Liberty Quarter in the "misc. coin" category in the FINDS OF THE MONTH contest (My quarter was graded by a professional numismatist as a solid VF and has a catalog value of about $300.00). My buddy Ron put in a low grade 1914 Barber Dime in the same category . . . . . you see where I'm going with this, right? . . . . . . more people voted for the 1914 Barber Dime than my 1919-D Standing Liberty 25c's! I even copied the page in the redbook that shows how rare my coin is and put it with the coin on display! What else could I have done?!

Then, this month, I put a 1944-S Washingtion Quarter in the same category ~ my buddy Ron put in a 1943-S Mercury Dime . . . . again, more people voted for his find! I'm starting to think people are not voting for the best find ~ they are voting against me!

Oh well, you can't win 'em all!

Those gold coins must have made everyone in your club jealous.....I agree, I'd much rather have that '19D SLQ than a '14 barb dime, or a '44 Wash over a '43 Merc. Oh well, what can you do....keep making them all green with envy!!

Thats an awsome take :o. You found more treasure in one gold coin than I did with my 200 silvers!

Fantastic year OC.
Your coins and rings are truly amazing. I'd be proud as hell finding just one gold coin, let alone two. That 1910 gold is such a cool looking coin.
Way to go on your 07' finds.

Yeah, I took several pictures of it because I gave it to the land owner of the property where I found it. It was kinda hard to give it up ~ but the guy was so cool about letting me keep the first gold coin that I found on his property, plus all the other silver coins too ~ I figured he deserved the second gold coin!

Plus, I've got an open invite to detect his property anytime ~ who knows, his 27 acres of land may hold several more gold coins! WOOHOO!!!!

In our club, unless you told someone that the coin is yours....they dont know because our voting is done by peices of paper in a coffee can that is later tallied up to find the winner. No favoritism this way.
I have been in your shoes and this was a solution!!

Yeah Man, We both had a great year! We spent a lot of good times together finding treasures.

As for the FOTM stuff ~ it's all good! That last month put my on "tilt" for a few days ~ but I realize it's no big deal.

Now lets go kick some butt in 2008 buddy! WOOHOO!!!!
