According to the local news beef is going to hit new time high. Everything is out of control. Can,t drive gas is to high, but that is okay since I can't afford a car. Can't smoke since the price of cigs are beyond my budget, but that is OK since I can't afford health care. Now I can't afford beef, that OK since I like turkey better. Turkey is the new beef.

Vinison the new beef here.....Almost afraid to eat beef anymore. So much of it imported. Milk now from Mexico. Almost no dairies left in Tennessee. Getting kind of tough these days. At least I still have my good looks.....boy times are hard.:laughing7:

I'm seriously thinking about moving to Ecuador. The beef there sucks anyway. There is probably an abundance of free range chicken though.

edit:

Well nevermind, just read some not so good news on Ecuador. It looks like Ecuador may soon be following Venezuela in anti-American sentiment.

There's plenty of anti-American sentiment right here in the USA.

So what kind of bogus reason are they giving for the high prices? Heatwave killed off the cows? Big exports to China?
I never did understand the whole beef thing.
We have enough cows here in Canada to supply North America and yet some of our stores carry American beef. :icon_scratch:
Remember "Where's the beef" in the early 80's? Another load of B.S.
I'm sure it's getting hard to afford things but try living in Canada. All of the things you mentioned are more expensive here.
Down with capitalism!!!!
Dave.

Thanks for pointing that out. We are about to go to the same health care system that Canada's has. Yet some people in America think this is a good thing.

Ever wonder why so many Canadians come to the US for their healthcare? Maybe it's because their system doesn't work too well. Obamacare is leading us down this same road. We can do something about this in November!

Never mentioned anything about healthcare but now that you bring it up......
It's really bad here in Canada! I broke a bone early this spring and went to the hospital, got it all fixed up and went home without paying a cent.
I wonder how many thousands I would have payed in America?
No, as flawed as our healthcare system is, I would take that over the American way every time!

I agree, cradle to grave healthcare is good for the people...until it bankrupts the government. How long can a government afford this? Your taxes (and most of Europe's as well) are absurd. Think of it this way, you are paying one way or another.

BTW, I am NOT bashing Canada...I love your country and have had many great experiences in Quebec, New Brunswick and Ontario (I have family in NB and Ont). My husband and I have even considered retiring to Canada, but need to see how things shake out down here first.

Our workhorse of free market capitalism has been shackled for a long time. Constraints, rules, regulations, political correctness, to name a few. Like a bunch of piranha chewing away at our ability to provide ourselves with the basic needs of life. Circling, as we speak, is the big shark of socialism.

It is time to wake up the starry-eyed lemmings who get a tingle when hearing promises of a free pony.

For reasons that escape me, there are still throngs of frothing liberals who believe it is possible to get something for nothing. Tax the workhorse more, and even sneer at the evil thought of starting a business, or attempting to develop our own natural resources.

I am old now. Served my time slugging rats in the gutter, trying to survive and provide. I'll be damned if I'm going to go down without a fight. Liberal dreamers ... look out. We who helped build this nation, fought wars, endured scorn and insults, invested in the future .... will stand up once more ... and ... VOTE.

Dave.

It was a lead in to the News. "Why beef is going to an all time high, find out at 5 pm" This was during the 4pm news. I forgot to watch the 5pm news.

Back in the beginning of 1980, when that recession hit and I lost my job, with a mortgage and 3 kids, we lived off of hotdogs and Mac'N cheese. But of course...back then, Mac N cheese was .29 cents a box and hotdogs were less than a buck for the cheap ones. Oh...yea...and we got free Gov't cheese.
Had a blessed neighbor that gave us food and we participated in an Italian documentary which we got paid $100.00. They came in my house and video taped our empty cuppords and refrigerator, panned over to look out the window at the idled J&L steel plant, and then the whole family. Seems back then they didn't understand what a recession was in Italy.
Bet they understand it good now!
