ok I need help

I have been looking for a map or some way to put a place to the names of dairy farms in my area. I was just told info about garretson farm in Erma NJ but cant find the location. I also am trying o find the miller dairy farm but no luck can anyone help me PLEASE help me any info is great

old sanborn maps maybe? perhaps the old beers atlas maps? the local library or university map room should have them.

There was a Miller and Miller milk dairy in Wildwood and an E. E. Miller dairy in Cape May. You can get more info. perhaps my contacting [email protected]
Dairy bottles are collectibles; no doubt a local bottle collector like Ed might be a great source.

You could also try the clerks office for Atlantic county. The farm you are looking for may be on the old tax records. The site above is located in Bergen county.

Don't know if this helps...found this article from 1941...it talks of this man living on the Garretson Farm in Hopewell. Not familiar with your area...

Hi,

The clerk's office was a good idea...the PVA office should definitely have the names of the farms in a database which should relate to grid maps. Good luck!

thanks for the info but I have tryed to contact ed with the bottles no reply and will have to check the clercks office and also this farm would be in cape may county Thanks will let you know if i find anything but please keep it coming I need all the help i can get

I found reference to a Joshua Garretson, who owned a farm, near Beesley's Point. It talks of one of the burying grounds that was found on his farm in 1826 of Indians called Kechemeches.

to put a name on a location just go to your county seat and buy the "platt book" for that county. it has property lines with the owners name on it. i have bought several of these in areas that i wanted to do some prospecting in. that way youll know who to talk to! and if nothing else youll know the property lines.

Hey, thanks for that info too....that would be great for my genealogy research. I'll have to see if my county/city sells them!! (See, learn something new everyday!)

PS: check your local library too...I know mine has old maps I have viewed for my area.
