Old Argentina Coin & Chain

This morning I dug a coin that has "5 Centavos" on one side & "Republica Argentina" on the other. The date read 189?, I can not make out the last digit. It is hanging on a silver chain with a nice "Verna" ring that does not have any other markings. Anyone know how to tell if the coin is real? I also dug 1,040 yen ($11.91US) and a cell phone.

No reason whey the coin wouldn't be real. Since it is a 5 cent piece and has a hole in it, probably is not worth alot, but likely has a silver content based on the date. I like the coral in the photo. Good luck in your next hunt. Papa
