Q.- what makes the ring turn a pinkish color? Is the gold mixed with copper?

I ask because a bracelet I found was corroded with greenish color and I dunked it in lemon juice, the green areas turned pink and the rest is gold plate(?).

water temp was about 54 degrees --I wear a 7mm wet suit , boots and gloves
