It's been a while since I've been able to post some gold. I went back out to the spot where I've found 7 or 8 silvers, 4 Indians, a number of wheats and the KGII Farthing. Thought I would go a little slower than usual with the small coil this time. Not too many signals over the course of about 90 minutes (did manage a 1917 wheat), so I thought that I might head out and try a different spot. On the way, I got what initially occurred to me as a trash signal- a 4" deep target bouncing from 48 to 50 in all directions. Something told me that I should dig this one- can't explain why- but am I glad that I did! I got the target out of the hole and immediately noticed that it was orangish-gold in color and round. Could it be? A GOLD RING! My first in many months. Knowing that I couldn't possibly top it- I headed straight home. It cleaned up beautifully- stamped 10K with a big ruby- and in an art nouveau style- meaning it has to be at least 120 years old. And the icing on the cake? It fits my wife perfectly! Thanks for looking and happy hunting, all!

Congrats on the gold, that baby cleaned up nice for being 120+ years old!!!

What part of MA?

Mi$terG , Very Nice ring !!! I think the style is closer to Art Deco -than Nouveau , i would date it more 1920's -30's the stone may
be a Spinel - In that size I think a ruby would be set in 18K on up . Great Find !

Beautiful ring man! congrats

sweet ring. I agree with Argentium in that I think it's probably 20's or 30's. worth the same either way, and it's way cool

Mi$terG , Looking at your Avatar pic - Is that a Pine Tree Shilling ?- and is it a find that you made ?

It certainly is and yes I did. Found it a year ago tomorrow- it's my lone banner find here.

Hey that's a beauty my man! Great ring. I like the old gold brother.

Beautiful ring !

Nice ring however I feel unlucky it fits your wife's finger you may have lost it

Awesome FIND!!! I agree with Argentium in that if it is a real ruby and that old it might be worth a lot of $$$. When it comes to rubies there are many many things that can affect their value. But one that size is worth checking on to find out!!!

This is a beauty.....your wife is very lucky too!

Very Nice ,I have always wanted to find a big old gold ring like that.what a sweet find,I am gonna vote banner,I know it is a personal banner for you either way.Has to be extremely rare to find

Nice ring, I recently posted a gold, diamond and ruby ring that I dug the same way, on instinct. My ATP did the same as you, bouncing, scratchy but rang 58 -60 and I was about to walk away. Makes you think how much must have been missed in the passed.

I hear ya ,the gold seems to allude me.
