I had a late start but got to explore for the Indian settlement I was told could be found. I started out from the parked car at 1:20 pm.... with ONE quart canteen of water. At 2:00pm I found these "grinding" rocks, as expected.

the second pic shows at least 7 depressions but only the bottom one is clear. They all are in a lighter area of the worn rock(s).

I was excited to go and find more petroglyphs, even though I was now out of water at 2:00. I went up and over the small mountain but missed the glyphs. I stopped on top to take some pics. It was 101 degrees when I left the car and was MUCH hotter up on these black rocks. Stupid.

I was very glad to be back at the Jeep... and water.... at 3:00pm. ╦╦Ç

Had to be hotter on the rocks. Since I was already on top, I decided I would go over the top to where the Jeep was. WRONG MOVE! The back side was all big and medium rocks just stacked up. No dirt fill. VERY unnerving to step on a boulder the weight of a car and have it MOVE! HOT HOT HOT! Then went straight down and around. Better to get off the rocks then walk around. Safer and not so hot. ╦╦Ç

Yeah...but it's a "dry" heat, Terry. Just like the -25 where I lived in Wisconsin was a "dry" cold. 😂

I would bring my battery in at -30 to be sure to start in the morning. At the cop shop, office personnel would start all the cars every 3 hours or time requested by owner. ╦╦Ç

Dry, wet, or whatever, not fun without water! I was stupid for going too far or without water for the return trip. ╦╦Ç
