Went to look at a old homesite just a 1/2 mile from my home. This is what I found in kitchen sink base in a old tin can. I was not able to detect today due to not having time, but will soon. This homesite I believe was burnt down in early 1960's

Nice silver. What is the coin in the middle? Token? Looks like it says Missouri tax receipt on it.

Re: Old Homesite Finds

Well I'd say since you found silver without the detector...there is probably much more to come out of there. Probably better wait until a couple of others can come with you...namely me and G ;D
I'm sure you guys will have it cleaned out before next season.

The center coin is a 1930's Sales Tax Token.

Re: Old Homesite Finds

I did not know this homesite was there. I saw someone this spring digging flowers in the woods on my way home from work. I went to check it out and found a foundation and several appliances laying around the area. There is what I believe to be a storm cellar there also. It is in a mound of dirt that I think might be covering the entrance.

If I found 5 Merc's at one site, I would definitley go back. There is definitely more silver there. Good luck.

Re: Old Homesite Finds

Do you think the site is detectable? Is it someplace you have permission to dig? Keep us posted!

Re: Old Homesite Finds

Very nice! I see lots of Mercs, and not so many tax tokens (none so far), so I think that's cool.
