I went to Durham NC (2.5 Hrs. away) with TNetter, Kurt Stuben, on Saturday morning. I had to help him move some furniture... out of an 1890s house that belongs to the family he is marrying into. Well, you can probably guess what happened next.

The place was nice, our host, we will call him "Uncle Phillip" was most accommodating, the weather was cool and sunny. It rained the night before, so the dark sandy soil was just right. We grabbed the machines and starting swinging. Kurt had already hunted the place prior, with success, so we were both anxious to see what would show up.

Here is what I was able to find:

- Toe taps.
- Harmonica reeds.
- 9 Wheat cents, including 09, 24, 26 & 28.
- Old wedding ring.
- Stamped brass "lid" with lady on it. Please chime if you recognize it. Has ornate "ears" on the back.
- Chicken charm. There used to be 2000 chickens on the farm, I was told.
- Copper flowered rectangle. Broach or hair pin... once again, chime in.
- Double heart bracelet.
- Watch part... sure looked like a big copper in the hole.
- Thimbles. Grandpa sold insurance, and these were his "give-aways".
- 1907 IHC, No date Buffalo, 1937 Merc and 1946 Rosie.
- My first shield nickel. Or what is left of one. Appears to be 1860s and is holed.
** There was a Jefferson in the mix, so I got my first nickel trifecta.

I had a really good time, and can't thank Kurt enough for inviting me to such a nice place to hunt.

Thanks for looking and best of luck on your hunts!
