These are some of the items found at 4 old house sites, one was 3/4 of the way on the ground. Hooked up with the Lakedweller on two of these sites, lots of junk w/ thorns, briars and stiggers but here are some of the interesting things. Brass door plate, square nail, brass air nossal, Playland token, round washer ring, copper faucet valve, shot gun shells, .22 cal shell and two other shells I don't know about. My brother thinks the one w/ three rings at the bottom is old as no shell has ornate rings or markings as it is unnecessary..does anyone have any knowledge or have found one of these shells? coins 005.JPG

It is a larger calibre like a .45 but the rings are what throw me off thinking it is older. It is a center fire but the botton is pretty far gone and cannot make out any text. The piece is rather fragile and electrolisys is out of the question.

One option is to measure in mm the opening at the top then try to go on the web and figure out what it is. Or post on what is it. Good luck and keep swingin'

That's what makes hunting old houses so fun you never know what you will find, Congrats on all that brass, and good luck getting a ID on that casing.

That looks like a .410 Shotgun Shell to me. Quite a few old 12 and 16 gauge Shells that I have from the 40's to 60's have those rings around them. They used to be cardboard-like shell cases...instead of our more modern plastic.

The larger round brass pieces at the top of photo are the shotgun shells and yes Deerhunter, they were of the cardboard variety. Small shell just above the square nail is a .22 casing.

No, nothing doing but figured it was off of a little girls jeans or pants and has a copper or brass look to it.
