old part of ship

Hi, me and my wife went to the beach today after hurrican katrina here near Pensacola Fl. I found a large piece of wood with a couple of brass shiny spikes that appear to be holding it together, it looks like side of a ship or something, I dont know how old or anything it may be..Any thoughts

P'cola ,A great place. My father was stationed there in the 60's . Lots of great history in that area.
