Hi guys, today went to this site i had done about 15 times before its about 100 years old, still managed to find a few good relics. The ones i liked best was the horse and buggy licence plate made from solid brass, also the ladies silver hat pin in the shape of a rose.
How about the size of that bullet, compare it with the .22 along side it and you can imagine the size of the rifle used to fire it.

Raoul,
I had a 58 cal muzzle loader that shot a "maxi ball" just like that. If the base is still round measure across with a ruler, 58 cal is .58 inches.
around 9/16ths of an inch in diameter. Another popular size is 54 caliber.

nice finds

Dave you are right, they do look good mounted. I had a shield made up from our local hardwood called Jarrah, the timber is red in colour and when polished looks amazing.
These 2 plates, 1 i found at the same spot about two years ago and the other one i found in a country town. Cheers Raoul
