Old Sterling Cane Handle

Got out for an early hunt this morning. Things were going pretty slow. Found two wheats and an 1905 Indian in 3 hours. Thought about just going home cause it was so humid, but had to give it that one last shot. I decided to walk up the hill and detect along the path. Got the usual beer can hit. Kicked the leaves and out popped the can. Then I decided to swing my coil along the roots of the tree where the can was sitting, and got a 79 on my ATP. Dug down about 8" and pulled out a decorative silver thing wrapped around wood and copper shaft .

had no clue what it was until I checked the hole again and this popped out. A Sterling cane handle. Glad I decided to stick it out that last little bit. Thanks for looking!

Neat idea. I have actually found 2 other cane handles both the same vintage style. They are copper though. I see a nice start to another shadow box.

I'd do some looking around carefully if I were you, you want a master of working wood. It may be a little expensive for a real craftsman, but the return would be a highlight in your life

Sure does. I was excited when I dug the first part, but to see that big silver ornamental ball shape in the dirt. I knew it was gonna be one of my favorite finds.

So glad I stayed. You know I just carved my morel stick. The shaft on this was wood with a copper shaft up the middle. The shaft was 3/8 inch thick. I don't know if that is something I could make and not have break on me.

That's so Sweet!! Found a couple vintage umbrella handles digging bottle dumps, never anything like this, Sweet!!

The walking stick idea seems an Awesome idea with these....
