This yard was so trashy but I keep coming back. It's an older part of town with large estates. When I started I would find these rusty metal plates with raised letters - they look familiar but were in the end just rusty junk , also lots of foil lining from packages and small wads of foil to give me many "false" signals. Well just like the old timers say, if you have a good hunch about what's underneath you have to clear out the junk. So I've been going back finding the occasional old coin. Well today, I found no coins except for two adult token towards the street. I also found the pocket knife and the English diecast Caterpillar. The two buttons, the Santa watch fob (actually an advertising piece from Sapolin paints), and the small Santa face (sheesh, can't get away from Xmas!) were found at a different tear-down in another part of town, also today. The little shovel and spinning top were from an earlier dig at this same site.
The coin is a nickel sized coin. I cannot find a Monticello, Indian head or liberty on it. Any ideas forum?

Hey y'all,
The diecast tractor is a made in England by Lesney. Can anyone date it? I haven't found many coins at this home yet so i am trying to get an idea of what years the yard was in active use.

Yes , i do believe it's a top, it still spins great. The other thing is a little shove or toy spatula. Any guesses on my nickel sized coin. Should i peroxide it?

I think the "coin" may be a knockout slug from a breaker box or switch box.

Cool estate finds!

If that "slug-like disk" doesn't have corroded rust on the edge, it MAY have a chance at
being a V-nickel. . . a few of the ones I've found were worn VERY smooth and the only
way I could tell what they were, was after I scrubbed them up when I got home.

Happy Holidays!

Very nice and ironic that you would find Santa at this time of the year. Tis the season though! Monty

Thanks for the idea. just tested it and it is NOT attracted to a magnet. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
I have been aty it with a soft tooth brush and soapy water but still can't make out any detail. Any methods known to work?

What NGE said. . . works wonders on red nickels.

Also. . .

If this IS a nickel, it has serious condition issues so, as a last resort, try soaking it in some "Lime Away" but watch it VERY carefully. In a matter of seconds, the crud will start to flake away. . . what do you have to loose?

Good luck!
