Prior to about the 1940s, people wore little jewelry. Just a wedding ring, period. So if you get into pre-1900s site, you find little or any gold jewelry. But contrast that to NOW, and .... heck, even little kids where jewerly: nose rings, earings, bracelets, toe-rings, nipple rings, etc.. etc... Much more to loose now, than in the 1800s.

That's is an odd one! Might be some kind of hair piece or maybe a pendant? I like old jewelry, maybe this fall I will get out to the pair of homesites nearby to look for some.
