Oldie but Goodie Newbie

Hey all you fellow/feline Ground Pounders, thought I,d introduce myself. I,m digginNM,and have been for 30 plus years. I retired in 2005 and discovered Metal Detecting. I am the proud owner of a DFX-300 and I am out an average of 3 to 4 times a week. Though I have been doing this for 6 years now, I still have questions about my detecting skills. I find alot of silver jewelry, but the Gold still eludes me. I think my biggest problem is that our parks are so full of junk that if I were to dig all of the low numbers, I would cover just small areas each day. However, that being said, maybe thats what I need to do to find the Good Stuff. Maybe you can tell me! All suggestions are welcome! May all your finds be Silver and Gold. Thanks!

Pumice- Yes that would be New Mexico. Albuquerque to be exact! You know, a friend gave me a smaller coil, but as of yet, I have not tried it. I will once the weather warms back up enough to get out. Where do you live and detect?
