Detector(s) used
WHITES MXT ,GARRET ACE150,GARRET SEA HUNT MARK II.
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Yesterday I hunt a coin or Token that looks like a Large Cent in the U.S.A :o , although it may be a token that has some letters written in deveria be the part where the date is written (MARKE). :icon_scratch:
I'm not sure totally these findings, but I'm sure it's the first one found in Spain.
The coin is very poor because it was damaged by fertilizers ..... I am very surprised and pleased to rescue this from the U.S.A :D
It was probably brought by some tourists from more than 100 years ago.
I have no better pictures that is dire and the back is completely degrade
Ask help me to fully identify the Token or Coin :icon_scratch: ..... Thanks!
this finding is a miracle of God detectors ....!
Greetings!

Re: ONE LARGE CENT HUNT IN SPAIN !!!!

Hi Hispan! Wow - that is amazing! It looks to me like a token, possibly a Hard Times token from ca 1830, but I'm sure someone here will identify it soon.

Great find my friend!! :icon_thumright:

Thanks Erik in NJ !
the Hard Times Token no letters in place of the date .... This Token is very rare. :dontknow:

Re: One Large cent hunt in Spain !!!

Some are rare, all are somewhat scarce. But they are definitely an unusual find, even here in the USA. To find one on your side of the Atlantic is a rare event for sure!

Here is a link with many different types and varieties of these types of tokens. It includes prices as well. http://www.civilwartokens.com/hard_times_tokens.htm

I hope this helps!

Re: One Large cent hunt in Spain !!!

Hi Hispan!

What type of metal is it made of? Anyone here would be thrilled to find one here - I just found my first this summer in 10 years. It's a great find as Neil said, superb for your country - first I've ever seen from abroad! What a story that token could tell! Try putting it on the What Is It? forum - you'll probably get a quick id there.

It is of copper alloy that has a lot of green rust and is a thin coin .... I do not mind this so degraded, that is much more difficult that to find a Roman Gold coin . ;D
Greetings!

YES! Together we are a great team in T.net able to identify a Token made in Germany for the USA market in the 19 th century and ended in Spain and was lost for more than hundred years in a cereals field.... thanks to large specialists such as Bramblefind.
Incredible!

Funny how things end up in other places. Good rescue :icon_thumright:

Not much surprises me anymore. Just goes to show if you keep digging a strange surprise can happen.

Nice rare find :icon_thumleft: for your country , that token was designed from the Gold Double Eagle coin 1850 ,a little information on it Good hunt Jim

......Hola!!!!...we moved to Spain, but were told not to bring our metal detectors with us,unless we had a imprt licence...if we were found using them we could get a large fine and out detectors confiscated.....we tried to get the import licences but were passede from dept to dept....so we left them in store in UK... :-\
