Great pic! I usually see them roaring through at full speed along a trout stream!

That’s a really good picture. I’m impressed you caught him sitting still. The one that hangs out here never rests.

Yeah I don't need no fancy 7 frames per second camera like my daughter's boyfriend got himself. The most game I've ever bagged was done between two guns I had when I was
around 13 to 16 years old. One was a Marlin model 100 .22 and the other was a Stevens model 94 to which I shot countless pheasant, quail, cottontail's squirrels and ever bagged a 4 point whitetail with that very gun with nothing but a bead sight by putting in a shell loaded with double ot buckshot.

I haven't seen a king fisher since I was a kid. Used to see them a lot.

I love Kingfishers! :occasion14:

We have quite a few of them up here, and seeing one when out
Steelhead fishing was considered as a sign that you best be ready,
'cause a Steelhead (The Fish of a Thousand Casts) is preparing
to do battle with you. 8-)

Grant, I started out with a H&R single-shot 12 ga. that kicked
like a mule. Never killed a deer with it, bit it sure put down a pile
of jackrabbits and quite a few coyotes.

Here's your pic with the wrinkles smoothed out..awesome shot!

Yeah a shotgun or front loader was the only firearm you could legally hunt deer with in Iowa back then. Not sure what the laws are today.
