I decided to take my excalibur2 out to start learning the tones before I hit the water. I was swinging in a trailer park that had a lot of empty lots. I got a tone that I haven't heard yet and out pops a penny. That's the first time I heard a penny make that sound so, I swung over the spot again. Out pops 3 more pennies, still making the weird tone. I hit another one and popped a huge thick silver color chain. It was stuck in the plug as well as fed into the ground. I freed the chain from the plug and started pulling the other part from the ground but it was stuck. Worried about breaking it, I cut another plug to loosen it and another penny came out along with this beautiful Cross. Upon cleaning it, every piece was marked 925. The cross, the chain and the clasp.
I took it to a jewelry store and asked if the diamonds were real, but it turned out they were not. I wasn't to disappointed though. I still had a very heavy piece of Sterling Silver. ;) I now need to buy a scale so I can weigh it. :)

Awesome find!! That is worth some good money in silver melt right there. Must have been exciting pulling that out of the ground not knowing what was on the other side. Way to stay with the hole after pulling out pennies.

Nice chunk of silver. Does make you wonder how you could lose something that big. Maybe some kid playing pirate, buried his loot and forgot where it was buried??
