Tax site lists as 1927, Normally they put 1900 if age is Unknown.

But this looks 1800 or Earlier to me were places built like this in the 20st Century ?

Though it has a Lack of Windows like a Jail or Barn. Looks like a Mill or Hotel to me

all I can get of the Back Which is Probably the Original Front,(could that be a former Gun Port on Top ?)

As it Faces what was the Rail Road & has Windows, Could be the Front 000aaa.jpg

the House along Side appears to be of the same Construction, & Is also Dated the same

Tough one, perhaps it was something other than a "residence" before 1927 and converted to such, I'd guess an old mill, warehouse etc and those "gunports" were rotted out beams used for hauling up whatever goods needed to be up on the 2d floor. But I'd guess 1800's....I have heard of and seen LOG cabins ad stone houses built early 1900's though.

Wainzoid 1827 Would make sense that would Explain the 1927 as a Typo :icon_thumleft:

the Blue Line is the Former Railroad. the Land Still Owned By Reading, Blue Mtn. & Northern RR

The Green X's are the 2 Buildings.

It is possible the Building (Mill) could have been serviced by the Railroad

Thanks for the Confirmation on Age Probabilities

if I Ever get a Car And Get some exercise in me To Do it, I Certainly want to try.
the remainder of the Property to the east of the track Belongs to the fire Company.

I seem to remember as a young child, (60's) riding by with my parents, their may have been carnivals held there.
At that point the Track still existed also.

I always look to the chimney more than the walls to determine age. Walls get changed, the chimneys pretty much never do.

Also, look at as much woodwork that you can, like pegged mortise and tenon doors and windows, floor framing, etc.

A chimney at both ends of the house in Pennsylvania where it gets a lot colder than it does down here, I'd vote for early 1800's. Looks like the chimneys used cement between the rocks, where down here our "poor" houses used mud between the logs during that period. Down here only rich folks could afford cement. Our houses were logs cut from clearing our land.

Edit: This is a picture of the second house on my property, long gone now but the chimney is still standing. Granny sold the square formed timbers off the house in the early 60's, and the chimney has mud versus concrete between the rocks. And I remember as a child that the timbers used mud between them as well.

Them people up there obviously were far more wealthy than we were.

And yes, that's me - circa 1953 or 1954

1770 to about 1845. Peyton is correct about building that close to a road. A deed search will tell, but that takes a lot of work.

Realtor Says single family home built in 1926. another says 1925. This property was last sold for $8,000 in 2016 and currently has an estimated value of $155,000.
I can't imagine anyone in 1926 Using primitive Building Skills like that.
they must be talking about the House along Side,
But Still The house seems to be of the same Construction under the Siding.
Maybe the front of the House is Faux Stone to Match the Mill.

We have a nearby stone barn with similar roof line, lintels and lay-up to the original image that is dated to 1839. Also right up against the road (has been the end of at least one driver).

I believe the Actual reason these Buildings are against the road is they were there when the roads only needed to
Accommodate a wagon.

& were eventually winded as Far as They could without moving the Buildings back

The "mill" looks like it may have originally been a "duplex", being two homes under one roof, due to the placement of the doors and windows. Look into when the railroad was installed, the building was possibly built for railroad workers at that time?
