On Sunday 9/15, I went metal detecting off of a public parking lot in the center of Union, SC...to the side of the lot is an area where a building had recently been torn down. Detecting off to the side of the lot near the road....I found early silver! This early Victorian collar brooch was about 1/2" down with a portion sticking out of the ground, I initially thought it was modern trash, but after picking it up, feeling its weight and marveling at its fine craftsmanship, I knew it was old....brooch is approx 3" wide, note applied silver flowers & stem going up each side of the centerpiece. I added the shell cameo and straightened the piece; its a little better as it was bent and flattened when found...a good start to the season!
