It's been slow lately, but today was awesome. I showed up first at a family run estate sale that had a ton of jewelry. (Will post pics later)

They also had a lot of original art. I bought these three for $40. On the way out they mentioned they had a ton of WWII stuff including a number of daggers. I left my number. Hope they call me back.

Anyway, I almost never buy art, but figured I would give it a try. I need help with two of the three signature.

The first is an oil painting by L. Watts. I haven't found much info on him, but seems he was a 20th century artist. Found a few examples of his works.

Here are some examples of his work:

This one I can't figure out the signature. I thought it might be Irish painter James Hubert Craig, but the signatures do not match.

Anyone have any ideas?

This last one is the one I personally like. I thought for sure I would find something on it, but nothing. I believe it is a print.
- I believe the signature is: Irene or Jreue Lagano
- It's titled "Black Birds on the Plains"
- It's dated: 6/12/25

I really like it. It's a shame the border has mildew or something on it. I believe this was sold at Gumps which is a high end department store.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks Digg! Curious how you found it?

So yesterday, I went to one sale that was a total bust. Then went to a family run estate sale. All the regulars where already there, so I drove to another family run estate sale on the other side of town. I was 30 minutes early, they were open, and I was the only one there for 15min. Everything in pic was $100. There were 11 gold rings (8 14K & 3 10K) and 2 14K pins. It was a great score.

Holy cow! I had to fight and beg for a lousy 3 oz. of sterling (forget about any gold) and you find more gold rings at one sale than I've found in the last 5 years. I just googled "black birds on the plain" with the quotation marks.

Thanks Digg. I thought i searched with quotes, but must not have.

I thought the gold colored chains where real gold too, but they are plated 925. I couldn't believe it when I saw all the rings. I asked the lady what she knew about the jewelry and she said: I don't know anything about it. It's been sitting in a closet for years. It all has to go. There's probably some real pieces in there.

I really hope they call me back about the WWII stuff. Sounded like there were lots of it and all of it from the same person who brought it back from the war.

Geez WW2 stuff too? Lucky you. That's like hitting the trifecta. Art, gold jewelry and Militaria.

Um that bee pendant could be a real find, maybe the best of the whole lot. What does it say on the back? Can you show the hallmarks? Bee and other insect pendants can be quite valuable.

Hey Jayers,

Here are close up pics of the pin. It's missing stone and only marked 'sterling'. It's nice, but I don't think it anything special.

Beside the gold, I think the Native American cuff is the nicest piece.
