Papaw gave me a hint to go look behind his barn....

My oldest son wanted me to share his find with all of you.

I bought my sons (ages 9 and 12) an ACE 250 for Christmas. They took it to their papaw's house and he told them to take it out behind the barn. He stated someone had been known to 'hide' stuff out there and they just might 'find' something.They found a metal box with the following contents. It's all foreign money and if any of these coins are rare, please let us know.

My son is anxiously waiting to see the replies to this post.

The coin in the bottom row, second from the left is Japanese, as the Crazy Jar Head said. I have a 2009 edition of Japanese coin values. Can you post a close up of that coin so we can read the date?

whats the patron st medal of ? thats cool -- the coins are modern not much value I think off hand --the new zealand half cent could be rare maybe * have to check on it more. --- bullet is modern --great finds for kids *

I went through my Japanese redbook with a fine toothed comb and did not see that coin!
I cannot imagine it being anything other than a Japanese coin because of the sakura (cherry blossom) pattern on the reverse. I hope you know i won't sleep a wink tonight!

Great finds!!

The Medalian is St. Micheal the patron saint of Army Paratroopers. Chaplins at Ft. Bragg and Ft. Benning Give them out. I have on that I wore on my dog tags for 22 years. I don't know how long ago they started giving those out. But way cool finds anyway!!!
