I'm still trying to get the best out of my 11" coil & the next place I wanted to try was unploughed Park Land at the rear of an 18th C Manor House. It was an area where I had a Gold Half Guinea & I wanted to make sure nothing else was deeper. After 1 hour I only had 3 coppers, so I moved the the next field that was only turned to grass this year (previously ploughed but heavily detected).
After 2.5 hours (1.5 on the next field), I only managed 1 scrappy Roman Coin. I did however learn a lot about the settings & I think I'm getting somewhere.
Dad did 45 minutes but only had the Lead Weight.

I know that it doesn't seem like much by your standards but still impressive finds

Its not all about the finds, although I like to focus on them, it was a great learning experience, & I need this to understand the machine/coil. The best time to experiment is when it has the least effect on productivity & this time of the year IS the time to try. Come harvest time I want to be 'on game'.

Hello Cru, what's the depth like with the 11 inch coil ?.
Robert.

It's pretty good & I prefer it to the 9inch but I've yet to master it & only the odd item is deeper than the XP GMP 11" (which is a great coil when used with the settings I learnt)
I'm testing it on poor sites, so until I return to a Roman Site I have hammered, I'm unsure. Like I stated the other day, it goes deep for medium Lead (12-13inches) but I'm still learning.
