These are the finds from late this afternoon. Searched a pasture field, that as obviously been ploughed at some time. Star find as to be the late medieval buckle, complete with it's pin and in great condition (these don't normally have the pins intact). Other finds, an open top thimble squashed 15th century, a fastener from a medieval purse. A nice army button showing the lion and the unicorn. A very large 18th/19th century buckle also turned up.

Robert.

We have a hayed field coming up shortly, & like you we hoped it was ploughed in the past. It's new land, so I hope it goes as well as yours.

Love that spectacle buckle Robert. I think I may have dug a couple of that same style here in Virginia, but not with the tang intact like yours. Looks like it probably dates to 1550-1650. Cool button and tailor's thimble too.

Some people have to work :laughing9: you get to dig two foot holes for lead.:laughing7:..I suppose that's like work.:laughing9: But I guess it could have been a hoard at that depth.
