Pecking stone?

found in creek today near several stone flakes. It has a great thumb shelf and looks to have been man made. Opinions?

I dont think its a pecking stone. It looks smoothed, but that could be from water action in a creek.

Is it heavy? It sort of looks like raw hematite to me from the surface.
